Easy answer
If you have the money, yes. You make enough to where wasting time on an old computer is doesn’t make sense. Get the new computer and you’ll get things done faster.
If you don’t have the money, no, don’t buy one. If it’s just old and slow and not having problems, live with it. If it needs repairs, consider the cost of repairs or find a friend who can help.
Longer, more detailed answer
There are so many reasons why your computer could be slow or having problems. Software problems and old/slow/defective/lemon hard drives are the main causes. Spyware can bog down your computer, and a simple clean can sometimes get it running like new.
Older computers with older hard drives are like cars with 200,000 miles on them. Hard drive has been worn out. Back up your data and drive it until it dies.
Often people replace an old slow computer with a new low-end computer. Out of the box, any new computer will be fast. That’s because there’s no programs on it, and it’s literally doing things for the first time. Nothing has installed or auto-configured itself. But wait, things will happen – and 2 years down the road your “new low-end” computer is now a “slow low-end 2 year old computer”. So pay just a little more and don’t end up with a crappy computer in 2 years, you might have already put yourself in that situation and thus why you are at the point you’re at now!
If you have in-house computer help, that saves $$ as a new computer takes time to setup. If you have to pay someone hourly, it can get expensive to do the job right sometimes, with email setups, data transfer, helping with settings. And if you try to go cheap on the setup of the laptop, you could risk not having all the things you need (like activated antivirus) and then have immediate problems (I see alot of new computers with viruses becuase the 30-day trial for their antivirus expires leaving the computer at risk.
